English Bulldog Puppy Questions

I really like the english bulldog breed and intend to buy a bulldog puppy early next year after the holidays. I am trying to make an informed decision and sort through the good and bad info. I have some questions and any help is greatly appreciated. I am most worried about bulldog health. Do health issues always arise in this breed and are they usually very serious? I have read horror stories about English Bulldog's eyes popping out of their sockets which would lead to major, major surgery cost! Do you know these things to be true? Another concern is about Bulldog drooling. I can understand drooling after drinking etc.. but the information I read didn't make it clear if it was constant or rare. Also, someone made a comment to me who owns 2 english bulldogs and they told me that they clean the Bulldog's wrinkles all the time and literally-10 minutes later, they smell awful. What do you think of this? Thank you, I know it's a lot of questions. I am just very interested in the Bulldog breed and was almost getting discouraged enough to forget about them all together.
